Mark Thomas Home Inspires Locally

In an era of one-click orders and sprawling big-box stores, Mark Thomas Home in Agoura Hills is taking a more personal, hands-on approach to fine home furnishings.
Beyond selling furniture, it’s become a full-service design destination for the Conejo Valley and surrounding communities.
Founded on the belief that every home should be both beautiful and functional, the company blends decades of expertise with a client- and community-centered philosophy that sets it apart.
Under third-generation owners Mark and Bryan Lasecke, the family legacy—spanning more than 68 years— continues to thrive, building on its Santa Clara roots while becoming a design cornerstone in its new community.
General Manager Mike Joyce, an Oak Park resident, personifies that local touch. With a background in design, retail and customer service, he says he has “always been drawn to how a thoughtfully designed space can completely transform the way people feel in their homes.”
So, Joyce said, “When the opportunity came to take over the former Wickmans showroom space in Agoura Hills, it felt like the perfect place to bring that vision to life and serve the Conejo Valley with a fresh, inspiring showroom.”
The company moved into its 35,000-square-foot location just over two and a half years ago. “We got into this industry out of a lifelong passion for furniture, design and helping people create beautiful, functional homes.”
The expansive showroom is built to inspire, featuring styled vignettes that help customers imagine entire spaces—from modern living rooms to elegant outdoor retreats. Visitors can browse a curated collection of premium brands, including exclusive lines from Bernhardt, Century, Hooker Furniture and Tommy Bahama Home. The showroom also showcases a new Hunter Douglas window coverings gallery and an extensive rug display.
But in today’s competitive marketplace, Joyce says the real difference is something that can’t be found online.
“Mark Thomas Home is more than a furniture store—we are a design destination,” he said. “We differentiate ourselves with a personal, high-touch approach that customers can’t get online. Our specialties include in-store and in-home design consultations, custom space planning” and expert advice on fabrics, finishes and colors.
That commitment to service hasn’t gone unnoticed. Mark Thomas Home was recently named a “Best of 2024” readers’ choice winner by The Acorn and has been nominated for “Retailer of the Year” by the Home Furnishings Association for 2025.
Community involvement remains central to the company’s mission. The team participates in the Greater Conejo Valley Chamber of Commerce, supports local schools and events, hosts design nights, and partners with real estate agents and interior designers.
For Joyce, the goal remains simple— and deeply personal.
“Our mission is simple: to help our neighbors create homes they love living in,” he said. “Whether someone is furnishing their first apartment, refreshing a single room, or designing their forever home, we’re here to guide, inspire and deliver quality that lasts.”
